iPhone Cect P168 - China's Improvement On iPhone Technology
Author: Missyrosa // Category:
The iPhone undoubtedly started a technological revolution and began a love affair with touch screens on mobile phones. However, most people are not as in love with the iPhone's price nor with the required high-priced AT&T contract that comes with an iPhone. With the IPhone you are forced to contract with AT&T for your wireless service. Very basic service is about $100 per month.
Enter China's CECT P168 iClone. CECT has taken the technology of the iPhone and improved upon it - so much so that Popular Science magazine calls CECT the "real deal".
The CECT P168 looks so much like the original iPhone you have to nearly squint to tell the difference. Plus, the CECT P168 offers all of the features of the iPhone plus bonus features. The P168 has three more speakers than the iPhone plus a removable battery. The P168 allows you to use whatever participating carrier you like (even your current provider). With an iPhone, you have the phone to an authorized dealer when the battery runs dead.
Further, the CECT P168 runs under $120 - sometimes as low as $100. This phone offers the features most people want - the touch screen, the ability to surf the web or watch videos, Bluetooth, and MP3 capabilities, without worrying about how to pay for all of it.
The iClone CECT P168 doesn't require any software. The phone will automatically recognize your network, phone book, and personal settings.
With features on par with (and in some cases better) than the iPhone at only a fraction of the price, the CECT P168 may well be a great way to enjoy the latest technology while waiting both for prices on the iPhone to trickle down and for Apple to catch on and add some of the features that CECT is known for.

CECT I9 VS P168 - How This New Quad Band Model With Java Improves Upon the Original iPhone Clone
Author: Missyrosa // Category:
The series of events that took the original iPhone clone (CECT P168 ("iClone")) to its newest version, the i9 is pretty interesting. The P168 is still a very brisk seller and I still find it to be a great phone. It's so popular for many reasons, but perhaps the most persuasive is that its interface is very user friendly and at the time of its release it mimicked the original more closely than any other clone.
This original model was then improved upon with the CECT P168 Plus + or quad band, which added the 850 MHz band, updated the firmware, and improved the digital camera web cam.
Then, came the SciPhone, which was the upgrade of the plus quad band. This model upgraded these clones to include Java so that you could easily download and use third party software and games.
The new CECT i9 is the latest, upgraded model of the SciPhone. This article will discuss some of the improvements and features of this new i model.
Two Sims At Once: This dual sim model allows for two sim cards or networks with both sims able to be online at once.
Shake And Tilt Feature: The original P168 did not have the shake and tilt or "shake to the music" feature. This was later made popular by models like the A88 and A380i.
The i9 has this shake control feature which means that you can advance or forward music, songs, and media only by shaking the phone. The tilt feature means that no matter whether you have the phone up right or on it's side (portrait or landscape), the phone will right itself so that the image will always be up right.
Much More Memory (Up To 8GB): The i9 will support up to a whopping 8GB of expandable memory. This is huge when you are going to be downloading software, songs and applications via Java or when you are downloading music and video and you don't want all of this entertainment to eventually slow or bog down your phone.
Java Support: I think the biggest and most important upgrade / improvement with the i9 is the Java support. The original iClone did not allow for third party downloads. Having Java means so many cool productivity applications like outlook express, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel to name just a few as well as thousands of cool games available - many for free.
Price: Most times, the i9 cost a bit more than the 168, (especially an 8GB model), but not by as much as might think. While it's not at all uncommon to get an original iClone for under $100 today, you can sometimes find an i model in the low or mid $100s, depending upon where you look.

CECT P168C Mobile Phone - Here's the Features on This Quad Band iClone With Dual Sim Active
Author: Missyrosa // Category:
The features of the Chinese iPhone clones can sometimes get confusing. The manufacturers upgrade and roll out new phones at such break neck speed that it's easy to mistake one model for another. Many people mistake the new CECT P168C (aka the P168++) with it's inspiration, the P168+ (aka iClone quad band). Or, people confuse the C model with the S model (more about that later). This article will discuss the standard and stand out features of the CECT P168C, so that you can see how it is different from some of the other Chinese quad bands on the market.
The P168C Supports 850, 1800, 1900, and 900 MHZ (Quad Band) But Which You Use Depends Upon Which Country You Live In: Technically the C model support all of the MHZ bands, but usually not all at once. I'll explain. Typically, when you buy this phone, the seller will set it depending upon the country you are in. So, for example if you live in Canada, North America, or the USA, the seller will go into engineering mode and set the phone to support 850 / 1800 / 1900 MHz. But, if you live overseas, you'll instead be given a 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHZ.
You can set this yourself, but most times the sellers will do it for you. (I'd recommend letting them unless you absolutely know what you are doing.)
Two Sim Cards Running At Once: Probably the biggest standout of the 168C is the "dual sim active" feature which means that you can really have two sim cards, phone numbers, and plans / carriers running at one time without needing to turn off or shut down the phone and while talking on it. For example, let's say you are a customer of both AT&T and T Mobile. You would be able to use the phone on AT&T (talking, web browsing, emailing, texting, etc.) and you could then receive a call from your T Mobile sim at the same time. This greatly appeals to many different consumers who use their phones very often or receive a lot of calls, including executives, business owners, students, and even parents.
Standard And Bonus Features (Including Flow Or Multi Touch): Other than the customizable quad band and the dual sim active features, the P168C does have all of the standard and extra / bonus features or the "everything in one phone model" that we've come to expect from the clones. In addition to Bluetooth (A2DP), full MP3 / MP4, and the 2.0 mega pixel digital camera and web cam, this one allows web browsing, emailing, and texting (WAP, GPRS, SMS, and MMS). It also has handwriting entry, a voice recorder, and a stylus.
The manufacturer has slightly changed / improved interface. As a result, this phone is often referred to as having "less bugs." It also includes the flow touch screen (often also called "multi touch.") It's expandable 2GB of memory can serve as a mini hard drive as it connects to your computer via USB for easy document and data transfer. It has a standby time of about 150 hours.
I'm surprised that, In spite of the upgrades, this phone doesn't cost much more than the original iClone quad band (the P168 plus). I almost never see it over $150. More often than not, it's in the low $100 range, depending upon how much memory is included.
This phone generally does not have the "shake and tilt feature," (advancing music and media by only shaking the phone). If you're looking for that feature on this phone, take a look at the CECT P168S, which includes it.

How Does A IClone CECT P168 Compare To An IPhone? Better!
Author: Missyrosa // Category:
There's no doubt that the IPhone is on a lot of Christmas wish lists this year. The IPhone is highly innovative and much sought-after for its multimedia functionality, but the IPhone is also incredibly expensive with a $500 price tag and a required expensive monthly AT&T contract. Enter the IClone, or the IPhone Clone, also known as the CECT P168.
With the IPhone you are forced to contract with AT&T for your wireless service. If you want anywhere near 1,000 minutes, you'll be paying over $100 per month for your service.
There is a way around both the initial price of an IPhone and the costs of the expensive AT&T plan. It's called the IClone, The Iphone Clone or the CECT P168 (called "the real thing" by Popular Science) - and it looks amazingly identical to the IPhone and offers ALL of the features of an IPhone plus bonus, additional features like extra speakers and a removable battery, plus it allows you to use whatever participating carrier you like (even your current provider). Popular Science Magazine dubbed the IClone CECT P168 "the real thing" because the IClone CECT P168 performs amazingly well, is 1/4 the price of an iPhone and even has bonus features that the iPhone doesn't include. (The aforementioned the ability to operate on two different networks at once, SIX speakers, and a removable, renewable battery.) Seeing both phones side by side makes the IClone CECT 168 an easy sell.
Better still, the IClone CECT P168 runs under $150 - sometimes as low as $100 on eBay. This means you can actually get yourself, your kid or loved one all of the features of the IPhone - the touch screen, the ability to surf the web or watch videos, and the MP3 capabilities we all want, without worrying about the credit card bill coming or without having to threaten your kid's life if they lose the IClone. Basically, anything you can do with the IPhone, you can also do with the IClone CECT P168 - AND you can remove the battery and operate on two Sim cards. Take the significant money ($400) you save and do something nice for yourself or your family.
You don't need to buy or install any software for the IClone P168. The phone will automatically recognize your network, phone book, personal settings and phone book. Additional standard features on the CECT P168 are:
Ring tones Type: Polyphonic (64 channels), Monophonic, True Tones, MP3;
Music player: Support MP3 player, with mp3, midi, and wav format;
Movie player: Support 3GP/MP4 movie player with full-screen;
Camera function: Camera with 1.3MP, 1024*1280 pixels, video (QCIF);
Memory Type: Support T-FLASH arbitrary expansion slot (256mb TF card included);
Interface: USB;
Vibrate: Yes;
Internet Browser;
Bluetooth;
Java 2.0;
Handwriting Recognition;
Messaging: SMS, MMS;
Cell phone Directory: iPhone Book Memory supports 300 records;
Supports Caller Ringing / Caller Video Player;
Game: Two games built in + downloadable;
Calculator/world time/stopwatch;
Unit Conversion/Currency Conversion/Calendar;
Stand-by time: Up to 150h;
Talk time: 180min--300min;
and
Supports: English (Default), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Arabic.
(You can get an English Manual on Ebay for about $3.00)
There are a few sketchy overseas vendors of the CECT P168, but I strongly recommend getting your IClone CECT P168 on eBay, because EBay offers pay pal fraud protection, the protection of the feedback system, and the competition on EBay ensures you get the lowest price. EBay's feedback system allows you to actually see buyer comments about the seller so you will know how many happy customers the seller has. Nearly all of the CECT P168 feedback is positive. You can also contact previous buyers to see if they are enjoying their IClone.
If you're not a current Ebay member, it is quick, easy and free to sign up. And unlike overseas vendors, Ebay is safe, secure and protected.
With features and specifications amazingly similar to the IPhone at under ¼ of the price, the IClone is a great way to try out the Phone's features while waiting for the price of the IPhone to trickle down. It's also a way to give your kids (or yourself) the technology they are hungry for at a fraction of the price. With the money you save (about $400), you can put a lot of additional presents under the tree this year.

My Review Of The CECT P168 Phone PDA - AKA the iClone
Author: Missyrosa // Category:
I've had this little phone since last November and I am loving it. I was swayed by an article in Popular Science that called the clone "the real deal" for it's solid performance. And, I'll admit, I purchased it as a way to get around having to pay over $100 per month from AT&T for an iPhone. Since new technology and new wireless plans are coming out all of time, I did not want to make that large of a commitment and I wanted the freedom to choose my own carrier. I also really liked the fact that it had a removable battery (which iPhone does not. If your battery goes out with an iPhone, you have to take it to the dealer.)
The iClone also has six speakers and has a considerably better sound than the iPhone. The price has come way down since I bought mine. If I had waited, I could probably get one now for under $100. For the price it is now, it's a great phone for a kid, teen or college student because you get the internet, MP3, camera phone and video capabilities for the same price as a very basic phone that doesn't have much on it.
In a nutshell, anything you can do with the IPhone, you can also do with the iClone CECT P168. You don't need to buy or install any software. The phone will automatically recognize your network, phone book, and personal settings. The features that I personally use most are is the full screen movie player, the music player (I download books on tape a lot), and the internet, but the phone has a full set of features (many of which I don't use, but like that they are there).
I've been extremely happy with this phone. For all the technology you get and it's very tight performance, the CECT P168 boasts an unbelievable price.
